Island Park

We love Island Park. If you were to ask me what the closest thing to heaven on earth is, I would definitely say Island Park, hands down! We have gone there quite a bit the last little while, because Chris has Fridays off, it is summer, and why not? Being close to Island Park is seriously one of the advantages of moving to Idaho Falls. There are lots, but it ranks pretty high!

However, actually getting to Island Park has presented some challenges. The first weekend, the "Check Engine" light on our car came on. I texted my mom about the situation (she was in Hawaii) and my wonderful dad volunteered that we take his brown truck to Island Park. It was like a dream come true for a little boy! Not only did we go to the cabin, but we did it IN THE BROWN TRUCK!!

This is him, jumping on the trampoline while Daddy was getting this loaded in the brown truck:
So, we finally got to Island Park. Here are some of the things we enjoyed doing. Trains. Always trains.
 Exploring with Daddy.
This is after seeing the going to Big Springs and seeing the seagulls and fish. Davis was amazed by the seagulls. He claimed that he wanted to catch one, but we assured him that he would not really enjoy catching one. I went to get my phone to take pictures of him chasing the seagulls, and then realized that we were being eaten alive by mosquitoes! Much to Davis's dislike, we went home instead.
 Playing with Reagan
We went on a walk on the island.
Davis loved the "sweet smelly flowers"

When you are a boy, you have to find a stick and a puddle and play accordingly. Duh.
OK, then this last weekend, we decided to go to the cabin again. Because of the whole car situation, we got in the packed loaded car, and I thought I would check the console (where we usually keep the cabin keys) for the cabin keys. They were not there. So, we went to my parents' house. They were not in the brown truck. We came home. They were not at our house. We went back to my parents' house and I started digging for keys. This is what I found:
I texted Casey, to see if he thought these looked familiar. I also emailed my parents, along with a photo of these keys to see if they looked familiar either:

Casey said the first ones didn't, and we decided to give up. We were going to take all of our stuff home, and put it back at our house. And then, the cleaning lady at the cabin, whom I had texted earlier, texted me A BLOCK AWAY FROM OUR HOUSE and said she had keys we could use. Halleluiah. So we went. And the next day, I found the keys in my backpack.

Anyway, it was a great weekend! We went to Mesa Falls on Friday. They have a cool little (very little) aquarium and some animal pelts inside the visitor's center, which Davis thought was pretty cool.

Two of my very favorite people in the entire world walking to the falls.
 More "sweet smelly flowers."
Walking with a toddler always requires some patience.

 At the falls:

Davis made falls of his own. Do you see the look of glee on his face? He was pretty impressed!

AND THEN . . . on Saturday . . . we went to Yellowstone National Park, otherwise known to my family as "The Park." And I forgot my camera. Thank heavens for iPhones! We walked around Gibbons Falls:

 Playing with a bug

And we SAW TWO BEARS! This is a really big deal when you live close to the park. Our joke is that we never get to see bears, but we saw TWO in ONE DAY! The ranger at the gate said to go to Tower. She was right!

So, we saw most of what we wanted to see. When we first got to Yellowstone, Davis said that he wanted to see "deer, buffalo, bears, and elephants." We did not see the elephants, however. So, we decided to buy a year-long National Parks Pass, and go back soon. Hopefully, elephants will be there!
It was so exhausting! Davis fell asleep on the way back:
What a great, successful couple of trips to the cabin, despite the hard time getting there on both occasions!

Reagan at 6 months

Reagan's 6 month stats:
Weight--15 pounds 10 ounces
Height--26 inches
Head-- 17 1/4 inches
She is in about the 50th percentile. . . and her head is in the 70th. . . which is better than Davis, who was the 100th :)
She is a happy little girl who loves to smile and coo. She loves her brother, and I am pretty sure that Davis loves her just as much! She can roll over from her stomach to her back. It is hard work, and she doesn't like to do it toooo often, but she is getting used to it. She DOES NOT like to eat anything but bottles, so we will work on that! She has a ton of hair, and the prettiest blue eyes ever!

We love our little girl so much!

And of course, Davis had to take part in the action!
I said, "Put your arm around her," and instead, he held her hand. I guess that is pretty close
"Give her a hug," and he laid on her and said, "I love you, Reagan."
I think having two kids that love each other makes my life pretty happy!

CUTE kids!

These are some pictures of my cute kids lately! There is never a dull moment around here!
We went to the Artitorium downtown with some friends! Tickets were on sale for Spring Break!

Sometimes, Reagan will be playing in her gym, and just decide that she is too tired! And sometimes when she falls asleep, she does so holding part of her gym. When she twitches, she wakes herself up. It is actually kind of funny to watch!

Eating adventures! Reagan hasn't figured out the whole eating thing yet . . .
Right after her nightly bath, Reagan has CURLY hair! I am guessing it will also be curly after puberty!
Sometimes you just need to wear a tutu.

Davis's friend Alvin got chickens at his house. We went and saw them, and Davis loved them!

Davis is obsessed with trains and Thomas!
Davis loves to help sweep the kitchen. It is one of his favorite activities! I hope it continues to be, especially when he can actually do it!
One of Davis's favorite things to do is to help his sister. He loves to give her things, like his toys (especially his trains, because they are his most prized possession), and his blankets, which rate second only to the trains.
Reagan's joovy walker. I'm not sure who likes it more--Davis or Reagan.
Look who is getting so big and holding herself up more and more! She will be turning over before we know it!
Davis still loves books! He actually picked this one out from the library himself. Unfortunately, he got so excited about it that he ripped out some pages during naptime. He doesn't get to have books in his bed while he is sleeping any more, which is sometimes quite traumatic.

Those are just some every day happenings at our house! We love these kids!

Chris's FIRST marathon!

He has done two half marathons, and an ultra marathon, but for the first time, Chris finally did an actual marathon! We got a hotel reservation that was basically at the finish line of the marathon, which was nice. The not nice part was that it rained the WHOLE TIME that we were there! Chris finished in 4 hours, 39 minutes, and it was raining for the entire time! However, he has a great attitude and said that he was having tons of fun!
The day before the race, we went to eat at Union Station, which is near train tracks. Chris took Davis to go see the trains. He did not want to eat. ever. again.
 Chris before the race

Saying, "Check out the rain!"
As soon as he finished the race and we found him, Chris said, "Well, let's go back to the hotel." It was raining and cold, and he was soaked to the bone. He took a very long, hot shower, and we packed and loaded the car. We asked where we could find a good burger, but we couldn't get to Five Guys because of the race. So, we went to a little Italian restaurant by the hotel. It had a fish tank, which Davis thought was very cool!

I am very proud of Chris for completing the marathon, especially with such a good attitude despite the rain. Way to go!!

Provo Temple

On May 9th, my little brother, Taylor, and his wife, Katie, were sealed to the little boy they adopted from Hong Kong in the LDS Provo temple. It was a great occasion! Our wonderful friends from Orem watched our kids while we attended the temple with our family. The kids had fun, and we had a blast at the temple. We are so grateful for temples, and for the knowledge that we are sealed with our kids for time and all eternity! This experience made it seem a lot more real that we are!
With all the siblings outside the temple, while Taylor and Katie and their kids were inside getting ready to come out. Oh, how we love these people!

All of Taylor and Katie's family in their white clothes, after the sealing.
Grandma and Grandpa Davis came down to Orem to see the whole party!
The kids downstairs during the party
Grandma successfully got Reagan to fall asleep!

Playing and eating after the sealing
Playing with cousins completely wiped Davis out! He fell asleep within minutes of getting in the car!
