Salt Lake half marathon/a week in Park City

We traveled to Utah on April 20th for the Salt Lake half marathon that Chris was running on the 21st. We stayed in Park City, with our good friends who got a condo for a really good deal. Chris stayed through Sunday, and then went home to work, and we stayed and played in Utah. It was a super fun week!
Chris did the race in 2 hours and 37 minutes! Yay! He never tries to break his personal record, and some other runners said that he was their pacer in the race, because he is so consistent!

Some other racers gave their medals to Davis and Reagan
Our condo had a heart-shaped bathtub in it. Marcela's brother came to visit, and the kids played in the tub after they realized that the pool was outdoors and COLD!!
Kids riding bikes in the parking garage of the condo.

Is there anything better than playing with your best friend and the water? I submit that there is not!
At the Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point. This museum is like a paradise for kids. It pretty much is an entire museum of places to play for kids. But it is also really easy to lose your kids! I found a lost kid in it, and I feel like I was constantly looking for my kids! It was super fun though! The internet said that most people spend 2 1/2 hours there. We were there for like 5 hours! We thought that our girls would take naps there. Ha!
On our way home, we were able to see Whitney and Noah! It was fun to play in Salt Lake with them!

Chris's FIRST marathon!

He has done two half marathons, and an ultra marathon, but for the first time, Chris finally did an actual marathon! We got a hotel reservation that was basically at the finish line of the marathon, which was nice. The not nice part was that it rained the WHOLE TIME that we were there! Chris finished in 4 hours, 39 minutes, and it was raining for the entire time! However, he has a great attitude and said that he was having tons of fun!
The day before the race, we went to eat at Union Station, which is near train tracks. Chris took Davis to go see the trains. He did not want to eat. ever. again.

Saying, "Check out the rain!"
As soon as he finished the race and we found him, Chris said, "Well, let's go back to the hotel." It was raining and cold, and he was soaked to the bone. He took a very long, hot shower, and we packed and loaded the car. We asked where we could find a good burger, but we couldn't get to Five Guys because of the race. So, we went to a little Italian restaurant by the hotel. It had a fish tank, which Davis thought was very cool!

I am very proud of Chris for completing the marathon, especially with such a good attitude despite the rain. Way to go!!

Ultra Marathon

Last year, Chris completed a couple of half marathons.  My dad asked him if he would ever do a full marathon.  He said no.  He was right--partly.  Instead of doing a full marathon, he skipped right to doing a 50k.  It was at Antelope Island in Layton.  We were able to have both of our parents there, which was a great help and support.  You can read more about his experience here.  Here are some pictures of my crazy husband, who I love dearly, running:

This is my favorite.  It is of him running the part of Antelope Island that people usually do not have access to.

This kind of sums up the experience.  The sign says, "Moderation has it's place.  It ain't here."

Top of Utah

It is now time for me to do a little bragging for my husband.  He completed the Top of Utah Half Marathon yesterday!  My brother and sister-in-law also completed it, and said that Chris was the rock of the race!  He never stopped and just kept jogging at a constant speed.  He finished in 2 hours, 44 minutes, which was WAY UNDER what he expected.  Way to go, babe!  My parents came to the race to help out with Taylor and Katie's kids, and to cheer them on (along with Chris).  We actually went to the Maverik that was about three miles from the finish, because Katie's mom called my mom and told her that they were there.  We seriously pulled in right as they were getting there, and were there for less than a minute to cheer them on, which was perfect timing!  Even a little too perfect!  Then we went to the finish line, and Dad paid a guy to park in his driveway, and we saw them finish.  Here are some pictures I took from the race . . .
Here are Taylor and Katie waving hello to their kids.  We saw them about 3 miles before they finished.  It was so fun!

Way to go, everyone!
